Fidel's Walk

I just thought I'd gather all the nuggets of useful wisdom I gather as I walk through life. This wisdom may come from sermons, books, friends, etc. It helps me to read thru this again and again so I can grow spiritually and be victorious over the attacks of the Enemy. It's amazing how just one sentence or even one word can change your life forever.

Dear Concerned Student:

I am not allowed in schools.

Sincerely,

God

----------------------------------------------------------

How did this get started?...
-----------------

Let's see,
I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained
she didn't want any prayer in our schools.

And we said, OK.

------------------

Then, someone said you better not read the Bible in school,
the Bible that says
"thou shalt not kill,
thou shalt not steal,
and love your neighbors as yourself,"

And we said, OK...

-----------------

Dr. Benjamin Spock said
we shouldn't spank our children
when they misbehaved
because their little personalities
would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.

And we said,
an expert should know what he's talking about
so we won't spank them anymore..
------------------

Then someone said
teachers and principals better not
discipline our children when they misbehave.
And the school administrators said
no faculty member in this school
better touch a student when they misbehave
because we don't want any bad publicity,
and we surely don't want to be sued.

And we accepted their reasoning..
------------------

Then someone said,
let's let our daughters have abortions if they want,
and they won't even have to tell their parents.

And we said, that's a grand idea...
------------------

Then some wise school board member said,
since boys will be boys

and they're going to do it anyway,
let's give our sons all the condoms they want,
so they can have all the fun they desire,
and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school.

And we said, that's another great idea...

------------------

Then some of our top elected officials said
it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs.

And we said,
it doesn't matter what anybody,
including the President,
does in private as long as we have jobs and the economy is good....

------------------

And someone else took that appreciation a step further
and published pictures of nude children
and then stepped further still by
making them available on the Internet.

And we said, everyone's entitled to free speech....
------------------

And the entertainment industry said,
let's make TV shows and movies that promote
profanity, violence and illicit sex..
And let's record music that encourages
rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...

And we said,
it's just entertainment
and it has no adverse effect
and nobody takes it seriously anyway,
so go right ahead.
------------------

Now we're asking ourselves
why our children have no conscience,
why they don't know right from wrong,
and why it doesn't bother them to
kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.

------------------
Undoubtedly,
if we thought about it long and hard enough,
we could figure it out.
I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...

"WE REAP WHAT WE SOW,"
 ------------------

Pass it on
if you think it has merit!
If not then just discard it...
but if you discard this thought process,
then don't you dare sit back and complain about
what bad shape this country is in!

What is a fool?

My son is memorizing the following verse for school "He who walks with the wise men is wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed." Proverbs 13:20.

One morning as we are reciting it together, he ask me "Dad, what is a fool?" I thought that was the perfect question for this verse and it took me more than a split second to come up with an answer.

I said a fool is someone who does not care about what he does and does not care if he hurts others or himself. A fool may rob a bank and kill someone or get killed in the process. A fool may drink and drive and run into someone. A fool may burn someone's home down, and a family will be left without a home. A fool may cuss at someone, showing no respect, and gets beat up in the process.

But the ultimate fool is the devil. He was foolish enough to rebel against the ultimate authority, God. So the short answer is: a fool is someone who hates God and shows no respect for God's precepts. This person will rebel against all moral principles set by God. Heed the warning and don't hang out with fools.

God Shows Me His Love

Have you ever wondered why God gives so much? We could exist on far less. He could have left the world flat and gray; we wouldn't have known the difference. But he didn't.

He splashed orange in the sunrise and cast the sky in blue. And if you love to see geese as they gather, chances are you'll see that too.

Did he have to make the squirrel's tail furry? Was he obliged to make the birds sing? And the funny way that chickens scurry or the majesty of thunder when it rings?

Why give a flower fragrance? Why give food its taste? Could it be he loves to see that look upon your face?

Jesus asked, "If you hardhearted, sinful men know how to give good gifts to your children, won't your Father in heaven even more certainly give good gifts to those who ask him for them?" Matthew 7:11.

I know what I want.

Do you know what you want? God has put into each of us a desire for something good and unique that we should want and go after. God does this so we can exercise the mustard of faith He has put into us. It is totally up to us to stay focused on what it is we want. Staying focused means to continually have hope and to take whatever steps are necessary to get there. You may need to keep going to school to study or working out to stay physically strong. Whatever it is, you need to keep doing it, by the power of God who gives you strength. Only by continually trying will you realize the awesome love of God for you and that He empowers you to get to where He wants you to get.

If you don't know what it is you want, then you've got a problem of co-dependency. That is, you are co-dependent on someone else to lead you by the hand, or to tell you what you must be doing. If you really get right with God and seek Him with all your mind, soul, and strength, then you will know what He wants you to do. Get close to God and know what you want.
