Fidel's Walk

I just thought I'd gather all the nuggets of useful wisdom I gather as I walk through life. This wisdom may come from sermons, books, friends, etc. It helps me to read thru this again and again so I can grow spiritually and be victorious over the attacks of the Enemy. It's amazing how just one sentence or even one word can change your life forever.

God Spoke To U? Yea Right...

The fact is that God speaks to u and i very differently, so i really
cannot say God has not spoken to u or to me.

We learn God's will by spending time in his presence. The key to
knowing God's heart is having a relationship with him. A personal
relationship. God will speak to you differently than he will speak to
others. Just because God spoke to Moses through a burning bush, that
doesn't mean we should all sit next to a bush waiting for God to
speak. God used a fish to convict Jonah. Does that mean we should have
worship services at Sea World? No. God reveals his heart personally to
each person.

For that reason, your walk with God is essential. His heart is not
seen in an occasional chat or weekly visit. We learn his will as we
take up residence in his house every single day....

Just Pray

Anyone who is having troubles should pray. Anyone who is happy should,
sing praises. JAMES 5:13

Do you want to know how to deepen your prayer life? Pray. Don't
prepare to pray. Just pray. Don't read about prayer. Just pray. Don't
attend a lecture on prayer or engage in discussion about prayer. Just
pray.

Posture, tone, and place are personal matters. Select the form that
works for you. But don't think about it too much. Don't be so
concerned about wrapping the gift that you never give it. Better to
pray awkwardly than not at all.

And if you feel you should only pray when inspired, that's okay. Just
see to it that you are inspired every day.

The Husband Store

A Store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City, where a
woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the
entrance is a description of how the store operates.

You may visit the store ONLY ONCE!

There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the
shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch ... you may
choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a
floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the
building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband... On the
first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 - These men have jobs and love the Lord.

Floor 2 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, and love kids.

Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love
kids, and are extremely good looking.

"Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids,
are drop-dead good looking and help with the housework.

"Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!"

Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids,
are drop-dead gorgeous, help with the housework,
and have a strong romantic streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth
floor and the sign reads:

Floor 6
You are visitor 4,363,012 to this floor. There are no men on this
floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to
please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. Watch your step
as you exit the building, and have a nice day!

Love Yourself First, Then Neighbor

What? You need to love yourself first and then you can love your neighbor. "Love your neighbor as yourself." You may think that is being too egocentric. Yes, if that is all you do. But if you in turn love others as yourself then no. To love yourself means to see yourself as God's child, loved by God, and with an eternal purpose. You need to appreciate yourself because God does. You need to have self-respect and not subject yourself to bad influences, etc. Once you have a good image of yourself and who you are in Christ, then you are qualified to love others.

Your Inner Circle

Everyone has an inner circle which represents those people whom you have allowed to mold your character, values, habits, etc. Since every circle is "closed", you have to explicitly open the door to those people you permit to influence you. What all this means is you should allow only people you can trust and who share similar values to yours. Your inner circle is actually you heart, so guard your heart. Your inner circle represents the core of your being and you should not allow every one to be a part of this. I know this may sound prejudiced, but there is nothing wrong with defining who you are by being influenced only by a handful of people. You can befriend everyone else you meet, and yet not permit them to sway you with peer pressure. A solid inner circle will give you a stronger character.
This thought inspired by Rick Hawkin's new book The Inner Circle

God vs Temptation

Think temptation is too powerful and has a stronghold on u? Think again. No one and nothing is bigger than God. Keep calling on God and soon u will see who is the Victor. Don't call on God and temptation will have you for lunch.

Higher Living

I was at a home owner's association meeting and someone complained about too many rules and regulations, like no parking on the front lawns. The person told the speaker, "You are trying to make this like the Dominion." (The Dominion is where David Robinson, etc live in San Antonio) The speaker said, "And". I got to thinking and the speaker is right. What is wrong with trying to be like the best? We have the mentality that it is too difficult with too many regulations to be able to live better. We need to think beyond and experience better living.

Time 4 U 2 Go Up

40 days beyond the Resurrection, Christ ASCENDED. U too must look ahead to ascending. But b4 u do, u will need to descend. Look up when u are in a pit b/c u r about to ascend. Newton discovered what goes up must come down. But God's Laws states what goes down must come up. Like Joseph in the pit, whom God ascended by grace, God is about to change things around 4 u. But when u ascend there will be opposers, even those who once prayed 4 u. They prayed u could stand up. But now that u are standing and God is beginning to ascend u, they would rather u stay at the same level as them.
