Fidel's Walk

I just thought I'd gather all the nuggets of useful wisdom I gather as I walk through life. This wisdom may come from sermons, books, friends, etc. It helps me to read thru this again and again so I can grow spiritually and be victorious over the attacks of the Enemy. It's amazing how just one sentence or even one word can change your life forever.

2 Facts of Life

Life is all about two things: enduring and enjoying. If u r enduring something right now, u will soon be enjoying life again. If u r enjoying life, u will soon need to endure something.
Weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Every problem u have is only temporary b/c in the face of eternity nothing will last forever. As u face difficulties, don't give up because u will soon be rejoicing again. If u give up then u didn't endure it and u will soon be facing the same problem.

We Are Like Chameleons

We are like chameleons; we take our hue and the color of our moral character, from those who are around us.
---John Locke

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few; and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.
---General George Washington

He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.
---Proverbs 13:20

I'm Not Your Trash Can

Tell me something good or don't tell me anything at all. I'm tired of hearing bad news. I am not your dump for all your negativism. I want to hear about things that will benefit me by building my spirit up. Too many things and too many people in life try to wear me down. I'm tired of sitting in front of the TV just soaking it all in. Although there are some very good shows on TV, my flesh and mind tend to seek out the trash. I am even tired of hearing myself speak of so much junk.

I am better than a trash can. God says I am His Temple. That must make me extremely immaculate, not because I've made myself that way, but because of His grace. God cares so much about me, He wants me to feed my mind, heart and spirit, with good things. Thank you, God, for making me your temple. I ain't nobody's trash can no more.

A Better Response to Bad Influences

Do you have any acquaitances/friends that literally wear you down spiritually? All they ever talk about is putting down others, lusting after chicks, and getting high with whatever they want. Don't you get tired of hearing the same thing over and over again?

I used to respond to these kinds of people by ignoring them or avoiding them. I even talked bad about them to my other friends, so I realized I was just as bad.

Now I learned the ultimate response is to pray for them. Try to ask God to spiritually heal them, to open their hearts and minds to Godly wisdom. You may even go as far as asking God to help you respond to them with loving actions such as buying them lunch or giving them a present.

The Linus Blanket

In the Charlie Brown cartoons we see Linus always clinging to his blanket because that gives him security. Despite being dirty, he loves his blanket and keeps it with him at all times because he cannot live without it.

Do you have a dirty blanket you always hold onto? When you are stressed and strained and fustrated, do you lean on your dirty blanket to give you some security and purpose? When things go haywire, we may lean on our peers, smoking, bars, night clubs, etc., because we are so used to giving ourselves a "break".

Your response should be to lean on God rather than on that dirty blanket. What I really need when I am down is a shot of the most powerful substance known to man --- the Holy Spirit. That will pick me up in no time.

The Daily Reprieve

Everyone should have a daily reprieve at the end of each day. That is when you reflect on what you did that day, who you may have offended, what sins you may have done, and to ask for forgiveness from God and from those you offended. It is a daily inventory of your behavior and a time-out for you to think about how you can change. It is a time to ask God to help you improve yourself in those areas.

La Vida Es Un Pedo

Life is a big fart. What?! That's what the Bible says. Life is like a vapor that is here today and vanished tomorrow. So how is that supposed to affect my lifestyle today? Just be humble, realizing your life could be gone in an instant. Enjoy it. Be grateful for it. Love others. Love God. Forgive. Take it easy b/c u will not get out of it alive.
